This morning’s recipe come straight out of lunar new years.
Rice balls are very easy to make, and taste delicious. While your rice is cooking, prep the nori strips and everything else is a breeze. Now then, are you ready to dive into this recipe? Then, let’s go! 🙂
Easy Rice Balls
- 2 cups sushi rice cooked (in the rice cooker I put 2 cups of Jasmine rice + 3.5 cups water+ 1 tbsp. rice vinegar)
- 1 sheet of nori seaweed cut into strips
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds as garnish (Optional)
Cook your rice on the stove top or the rice cooker. Once cooked, immediately begin cooling it down to room temperature.
Next, wet your palms and add a pinch of salt. Then begin forming the ball of rice into your hand. Optionally, you can add cooked salmon, a bit of sauteed vegetables, or canned tunafish into the middle of your ball if you’d like. For now, we kept it simple and left it plain.
Wrap the strip of seaweed around the rice ball and garnish with seeds. (I alternated between poppy seeds and Everything Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s. Enjoy!
