It’s Pancake Day and in honor of Shrove Tuesday, today I whipped up a bowl of applesauce straight out of Tyria! This delicious recipe is part of the novice cooking collection, and is definitely a must to try in your own home. If you’ve ever tried jarred applesauce then you know that it is either too sweet, or quite bland. But making fresh applesauce couldn’t be easier, and you can control how much sugar goes into the dish. Now let’s examine the recipe from the game…
Obviously we will not be using a bag of sugar today. (Just the thought of that makes my teeth hurt! lol). Instead, we’re going to keep to the simplicity of this recipe and let the sweetness of the apples shine. Are you ready to get cooking with me? Then, let’s jump in!
Makes: 2 cups of applesauce
- 4 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 dash of ground cinnamon (optional)
Step 1: In a large cooking pot, place the diced apples, water, and sugar in. Turn on the stove to medium heat until the water begins to boil.
Step 2: Cook for 10-15 minutes, gently manually mashing down the apples as they soften.
Step 3: Add in the dash of cinnamon around the 15 minute mark and mix well to combine.
Step 4: Either use an immersion blender or remove apples from heat and pour into a food processor or blender. Pulse until the apples are pureed.
Step 5: Serve warm or store in the fridge until chilled.
Since it is Shrove Tuesday we decided to use 1 cup of this applesauce + 2 cups of Bisquick to make a beautiful batch of pancakes! 🙂
